Mixed-media art is an avenue to keep the creative spirit alive. I enjoy beginning a painting or an assemblage with a color selection followed by texture and line work. Often, there is an emotion or mood on my mind at the beginning of the piece.
I want to convey a sense of situation in the work such as feeling trapped, escaping or rhythmic comfort. Art assists me in maintaining more openness, flexibility and creativity in my professional teaching life and my personal life. The art process flows through all aspects of my life.
Observing nature has enriched my vision by broadening my understanding of the cycles and challenges inherent in life.
As my artistic development has unfolded I have come to understand more about myself, other people and the world as an interrelated, interconnected whole. It is my hope that others will relate to the work in their own personal way.
